“Iftar in the spirit of empathy” was a success!

To our great satisfaction, after the film, the visitors showed a desire to get better acquainted with the topic of veganism, and asked many questions related to the film and the vegan lifestyle in general, which our Ajdin Arnautovic patiently answered.

After a Q&A session for the film, our chef Selma Smajiš introduced herself, the dishes she prepared for iftar and the reasons why she launched “Selmalicious Kitchen”.

In addition, she briefly presented the work of the Facebook group “Indy paws” through which they rescue animals from the street and our special guest – cat Dobrica. 😊

When they found him, Dobrica was in poor condition to the extent that he was immobile and is now healthy and mobile. That he deserved the name Dobrica, he showed with his perfect behavior. If you want to adopt Dobrica or another animal, contact the Facebook group (link).

To support the work of this group, we set up money and food donation boxes.

Thanks to our kind visitors, 2.6 kg of animal food and 493.80 KM were collected during the event, and one volunteer added the necessary money to round up the amount to 500 KM.

At our iftar there were a variety of vegan specialties prepared by our Selma. In addition to Selma’s famous falafel and pide, she delighted our visitors with lentil soup, sweet balls and a special tea made from mountain herbs. Also, at the event you could try homemade hummus made by one member of our organisation.

Fresh and warm food was served just before the iftar, and praise for it spread throughout the room. We ended this event with quality conversations and eating our food.

We thank everyone who came to this gathering. We hope that our “Iftar in the spirit of empathy” will be an inspiration to someone to make an iftar for others, to help someone or to say a nice word to someone. Through selfless giving to people and animals, we expand our empathy and enrich our lives as well.
