VivaBiH

This year’s VegOdluka is the most successful yet!

As you know, for the third year in a row in January we organized the VegOdluka program.

Three months have passed since then, and we are only now becoming aware of the importance of this program for the growth of veganism in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Given that most people set New Year’s resolutions, it turned out that many people start veganism in January, so this year we also wanted to promote veganism among the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

JOIN OUR VivaBiH ACTIVIST GROUP

Our organization is looking for hard-working MEMBERS who, through the work of our activist group, want to give their voice to those who do not have one.

Are you concerned about the way animals are treated, primarily because of their diet, and do you feel helpless?

We’re hiring!

NOTE: This Job posting is just relevant to people from Bosnia and Herzegovina!

With its work, VivaBiH promotes the benefits of a vegan lifestyle, that is, the ethical, ecological and health reasons for switching to veganism.

As part of our activities, among other things, we implement the “ZELENI TANJIR” (eng. “GREEN PLATE”) project, which aims to help catering establishments throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina to introduce as many vegan options/dishes as possible in their menu through the complete education of their employees.

Comfortable companionship and cooking with Ena Tešić

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, this year, we held our event “Cooking with Ena” on the premises of the Ananda Yoga Center.

The event was organized as part of our VegOdluka project, through which we strive to show the diversity of the vegan diet, as well as its numerous health benefits.

The VegOdluka program includes a free meal plan for the month of January, i.e. 31 days with suggestions for three meals every day.

What can we do “For blue sky”?

In September of last year, our organization launched a mini-campaign with the symbolic name “Za plavo nebo” (eng. For blue sky”).

This environmental campaign focuses on air and the importance of preserving it.

We wanted to emphasize the importance of healthy and clean air for human life, but also for the life of other species in the world.

On the other hand, we wanted to draw attention to air pollution, both the well-known and lesser-known forms of pollution.

Do you know that the primary air polluter is not transport vehicles?

What is the price we will all pay if we do nothing?

Proof that the vegan community in Bosnia and Herzegovina is growing

You probably already know that our organization is from October 1, 2021. launched the “First big survey of dietary habits in Bosnia and Herzegovina”. The official survey lasted until the beginning of April 2022, after which data processing and verification followed.

This is the first survey in Bosnia and Herzegovina that gives us an approximate percentage of vegans in our country.

The research was conducted through a survey that could be filled out online on our website and social networks, but also physically at our promoters that were placed in various shopping centers and restaurants in different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and through a QR code in many cafes and restaurants in our country. In addition, the QR code was also in several city light locations in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, Zenica and Tuzla.

It’s time for a new VegOdluka!

The end of 2022 is approaching. Did this year meet your expectations? Or do you still have bad habits like unhealthy food and lack of exercise?

December is the time for making famous New Year’s resolutions. VivaBiH organization is here to help you realize your life plans and decisions, so we hereby invite you to make your VegOdluka (decision to become vegan) and try to be a vegan for a month.

VegOdluka is our project that has been implemented for two years so far, and it takes place during the month of January. This plan includes suggestions for three meals each day, along with nutritional values. So, every day during the realization of your VegOdluka, you will get free access to recipes for the whole day, their nutritional composition, as well as where to buy the ingredients needed to make the given dishes. All you have to do is get the groceries (and we’ve tried to make them accessible to everyone), and start preparing delicious meals.

What “TRUTH about MILK” hides behind the colorful ads of the dairy industry?

In July 2022, we launched our most significant and largest campaign against the consumption of animal milk called “IstiNE o MLIJEKU” (wordplay that has two meanings: “The TRUTH about MILK” & “Say NO to MILK”).

Our goal was to bring a well-known product closer to the public in Bosnia and Herzegovina and beyond, but through the prism of truth and without additional decoration and filters.

The individuals on your plate – Can you look your food in the eyes?

At the end of September, 24.09.2022. in the afternoon in Sarajevo in front of the Eternal Flame, the VivaBiH activist group held the action “Individuals on your plates”.

The main banner of this action with the question “Did your food have the same eye color as you?” and “Let’s stop speciesism!” has attracted a lot of attention from our fellow citizens.

The question alone made them think, and many showed interest in finding out what speciesism is.

We actually wanted to encourage people to re-establish that connection between what is on their plate and that individual who wanted to be carefree, happy and who wanted to live. We also wanted to bring the concept of speciesism closer to people.

New tastes and discoveries in “Summer taste of compassion”

While celebrating World Plant Milk Day, on Saturday 20.08.22. we organized a gathering called “Summer taste of compassion”.The event was planned and executed within our campaign “Truths about Milk” with the goal of educating the public on why we shouldn’t be consuming cow’s milk and other animals’ milk. Even though we were surprised by the thunder and rain, the atmosphere in Bistro Zdravo (the restaurant where the event was held) was amazing. We watched the documentary “Cowspiracy” which tackles different ecological problems like climate change, water usage, deforestation and ocean dead zones, and comes to the conclusion that animal agriculture, including the dairy industry, is the leading cause of environmental destruction. After the movie, our guests had the opportunity to hear 3 interesting educational presentations.
